Welcome to Planning and Construction Projects (PB)

When new buildings are required, or buildings are to be converted or renovated, the lead time from the initial idea to the finished building is usually long.

Many questions have to be clarified and internal and external parties involved have to be taken into account, such as the grant authorities, the authorities, the Property Management (IM), the user or, in the university sector, the Landesbetrieb Vermögen und Bau Baden-Württemberg (VBA) in Karlsruhe.

However, not only the construction measure as such is part of our activities, but also, for example, the associated technology within the buildings must be planned and located.

A multitude of questions concerning the complex topic of construction require contact persons with professional expertise and know-how. For this purpose, our PB team includes architects, civil engineers and specialist engineers/technicians.

Should you require a constructional measure, please first undergo the internal approval process with your divisional management directors and the DE Property Management to clarify your requirements. In the event of technical malfunctions, please first contact the Control Center (LST) to issue a ticket.

In a nutshell

Who are we?

We are the KIT Business Unit responsible for the management of construction projects on behalf of the KIT. Furthermore, we manage the works of art at KIT. We are subordinate to the Vice President of Economics and Finance.

What do we do?

We are responsible for the coordination of planning procedures with the authorities in connection with KIT construction matters. We develop and implement technical and constructional standards in coordination with operations (see Business Unit FM).

Furthermore, Business Unit PB contributes its planning and construction expertise to structural development planning and project developments (see Business Unit Property Management). In this context, we take on the role of the client in KIT construction measures.

For construction projects that are not owned by KIT, PB represents the KIT towards the Landesbetrieb für Vermögen und Bau Baden-Württemberg (VBA).
